5 Competitions Recently Added to our Canadian Database
So, you’ve seen grants and you’ve seen tax credits, but if you’ve been on the Pocketed platform recently, you’ll notice there’s a new funding opportunity available!
That’s right — Pocketed’s Canadian database now includes competitions!
Competitions are (quite obviously) competitive funding sources as they have multiple businesses fighting for the same pool of funds, often from investors. Additionally, they typically have firm deadlines, whereas some grants are open until filled.
Here are five of the competitions that were recently added to our Canadian database:
AAGEF 2021 Entrepreneur Challenge
Type: Market Expansion
This challenge is an opportunity for startups to receive coaching from top industry leaders. After applications are reviewed, three finalists will be selected to present in front of a group of investors and executives on November 24, 2021.
The winners of the challenge will be awarded cash and prizes and all entrepreneurs are invited to apply by October 15, 2021.
Oslo Innovation Week Pitch Competition

The Nordic competition is open internationally and companies can apply with a 3-minute video pitch by August 15, 2021. A jury will select 8 finalists and the winner will be awarded 200,000 NOK ($28,352 CAD).
UTSC Startup Competition
Type: Market Expansion
This competition is for startup founders looking for some much-needed seed funding but without giving away equity.
The awards will be issued to undergraduate students (up to $2,500), graduate students (up to $3,500), or recent alumni (up to $3,500) — with a maximum of $5,000 per startup.
The next opportunity to enter the competition is in November 2021.
She Loves Tech Competition

This competition is for technology startups seeking seed, angel, or A round funding under $5 million with a minimum viable product past the stage of conception.

Registration ends on August 15, 2021, and then there are local rounds followed by boot camps and ending with global finals.
Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition
Type: Research & Development, Market Expansion
This competition for tech ventures is for a chance to represent Canada at the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in the fall.
